How should I store my unit considering the lithium battery?Updated 2 years ago

What do we recommend?

Freedom7:

Using fresh water rinse your Ocean Guardian, remove all the salt water and sand from the unit, and dry with a microfiber cloth. Make sure that you have removed the pouch and the pouch is dry before storing your unit.

Freedom+ Surf:

Using fresh water rinse your Ocean Guardian, remove all the salt water and sand from the unit, and dry with a microfiber cloth. Be particularly careful while drying around the power module connectors.

To keep your battery life healthy and to prevent problems with your battery; store your Ocean Guardian in a cool, dark, and dry place. Lithium-ion batteries last longer when stored in cool, dry, and dark places. When you store your battery, do not store it fully charged. After you have used it charge it to about 50%. If your battery has become flat while you were in the ocean; only charge it for 2 hours. If you were only in the water for 2-3 hours, clean your unit and store it at that battery percentage.

WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO STORE YOUR BATTERIES FULLY CHARGED?

Lithium-ion batteries; particularly 18650 batteries, which are in your Ocean Guardian, can only be charged for the recommended time of 4-5 hours. Why? Because the battery life depletes when fully charged and stored at 4.2V; when you store your lithium-ion batteries at 3.5V your battery life will last longer. We recommend that you charge your unit before going into the ocean.
