What is the output voltage / current / frequency of the electrical field of the Shark Shield?Updated a year ago

The effectiveness of an electrical shark deterrent is dependent on the electrical field generated. The electrical field generated is dependent on a number of factors, these include the electrical power output, the size of the electrodes, the distance apart and the physical electrical wave shape. The physical wave shape and frequency is detailed in the US Patent Number 5,566,643  

Whilst software modelling is a good indicator of performance, the only way to confirm is to conduct in-water testing using electronic test equipment to take physical measurements, then compare these to what is known through historical independent scientific testing to be effective. 

For example, the FREEDOM7 and FREEDOM+ have a volts per meter measurement of ~6.0 volts / meter at 0.5 meters from the electrode, and ~2.0 volts / meter at 1.0 meter from the electrode. As you can see the further away from the electrode the lower the e-field power. At 2.0 meters from the electrode the power is ~0.5 volts / meter. 

If you compare this as an example to other surf brands of electrical deterrents, our software modeling of these products, and supported by in-water measurements show that the electrical field generated at 0.5 - 1.0 meters is only 1/10th of the power of a Shark Shield, so at 0.5 meters from the electrode the power is only ~0.6 volts / meter whilst Ocean Guardian is ~6.0 volts / square meter. Our modelling and in-water testing show that the competitive surf product at 2.0 meters from the electrodes the electrical field is hard to measure, ~0mv to 10mv / meter, so is unlikely to be effective.
